Chris Wilkins FCCA is a Chartered Certified Accountant, Registered Auditor and the founder of the firm. He has run accountancy practices for thirty years and has extensive experience as a practising accountant. He leads in all services provided by the firm. He has gained his accountancy and tax training from two of the largest firms of Chartered Accountants in the City of London. He qualified in 1988 with Robson Rhodes, Chartered Accountants, in their head office in London and was then an audit manager with Pannell Kerr Forster, Chartered Accountants, in their head office in London, before forming Wilkins Southworth. He brought with him such diverse experience as:

a) At the age of 31, he went to stay in Toronto for a period of time to reverse a group of 15 UK property companies into a company quoted on the Toronto Stock Exchange, with the assistance of Canadian auditors, by reauditing the group of companies in accordance with Canadian legislation and restating the UK audited financial statements to comply with Canadian accounting legislation.

b) At the age of 32, he took a due diligence team to Guyana with Lord Beaverbrook and dealt with the purchase of the Demerara Sugar Company, a timber mill and 250 sq miles of Guyana. This included liaising with the eventual purchaser which was a Dutch Antilles quoted company.

c) He was appointed the Chief Financial Officer of a company quoted on the Canadian Stock Exchange at the age of 35. This company had:

  1. Gold mines in China.
  2. A gold field in Tanzania.
  3. Gold licences In Zambia.
  4. Diamond fields in Tikhvin, Russia.
  5. Timber mills in Lusaka.
  6. Offices in London, China, Lusaka (Zambia).

He dealt with the financial and regulatory matters in connection with the group’s worldwide assets.

d) He has been accredited by The Law Society and The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants as an Expert Witness.

e) He was the international tax advisor to the largest land owner in Bucharest, Romania.

f) He was the international tax advisor to a group of English and Italian companies that were the subsidiaries of a Bermudian Trust Structure that had group assets of €50million.

g) He represents clients at hearings with the General Commissioners of Income Tax and has been doing this for 30 years. In that time, he has not lost a Commissioners hearing.

h) He advises on worldwide trust structures, including those in New Zealand, Isle of Man, Guernsey, Jersey and Bermuda.

i) He has travelled widely on behalf of clients in the former Soviet Union, Romania, Mauritius, Canada, United States of America, Guyana, Italy and Switzerland.

j) He deals with the international tax aspects of the firm, including advice on residence, ordinary residence and domicile in connection with such offshore jurisdictions as Canada, South America, Kazakhstan, Russia, Romania, Cyprus, Ireland, Italy and Luxembourg.

Anne Coumidis BSc FCA

Anne is a Chartered Accountant with wide experience across a spectrum of different commercial activities. Her expertise covers all aspects of business accounting and auditing as well as corporate and personal taxation, business start up, cashflow projections, litigation support and charity accounting.

Anne qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1991. Following qualification she spent three years in the property sector of the audit department and three years as a manager in the corporate finance department in the London head office of Ernst & Young, Chartered Accountants. Whilst at Ernst & Young, she worked on several expert witness reports in respect of litigation arising as a consequence of some of the major corporate collapses in the 1980's. She also has experience of working in industry, having fulfilled the role of interim financial director for a newly listed AIM company.

As Audit Manager, Anne is involved with all of our audit clients, frequently visiting client premises. She also deals with many of our other incorporated entities, partnerships and individuals in respect of end of year accounts and tax returns and advising on tax efficient structures.

James Wade BA ACCA CTA

James joined Wilkins Southworth in 2005, after graduating from Bournemouth University with an upper second class honours degree in Business Studies. Incorporated into James’ degree was a one year industrial placement, which he spent at a local firm of chartered certified accountants. He qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2009.

Throughout his eleven year career at Wilkins Southworth, James has gained expertise in a number of areas, including becoming responsible for a variety of limited companies, high net worth individuals tax affairs and managing the firm’s payroll clients. He regularly deals with HMRC in respect of enquires in respect of PAYE/CIS/VAT and self assessment compliance.

James passed his final Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) exams in May 2013 and is now a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Chris Martin

With over ten years’ experience in commerce and fifteen years in practice, Chris has a wide experience of commercial businesses from both inside and outside business. His previous experience includes quarterly group management accounts and statutory financial statements for AIM listed companies, audit, as well as the preparation of financial statements for small and medium sized businesses.

Martin Sans

Martin is a specialist tax consultant. He brings to Wilkins Southworth thirty years of experience with major accountancy practices and H M Revenue & Customs. Latterly he was the Group Manager for Business Tax with Robson Rhodes, Chartered Accountants at their head office in London. He is a founder member and director of The Tax Practice, the national association of independent tax practitioners. He writes articles for technical tax magazines and runs courses for The Local Training and Enterprise Councils (TECs), The Society of Financial Advisors and The Society of Will Writers. He advises on H M Revenue & Customs investigations, PAYE health checks and planning, capital gains tax, personal tax, inheritance tax and business tax.

Amy is Chris’s personal assistant, and our receptionist and secretary, and has been keeping the office in check since she started working here in 2014. She previously lived and worked in Cyprus, and brings her international experience and bubbly personality to the job.
